Capture striking wildflower images!

Back again for another year is our Budding Botanist: Plant Photography Workshop with botanist and photographer Iraleigh Anderson!

Whether you’re already snapping photos on your hikes or simply curious about learning how to better capture the beauty of native plants, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to build your skills, spend time outdoors, and connect with fellow plant lovers.

Join us for this two-day workshop and learn tips and tricks to capture striking images of the spring wildflowers of the West Kootenays!

Workshop Details:

Day 1: June 11 | 2-Hour Webinar | 6 – 8 pm

Location: Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/min-mzob-qvm

We will begin with a presentation on the fundamentals of photography, followed by some tips and tricks to apply these concepts to capture high-quality plant images using your mobile phone.

Day 2: June 13 | Field Day at Record Ridge | 8am – 1 pm

Put your new skills into practice in the field! We will meet at the stunning serpentine grasslands of Record Ridge to spend the morning photographing diverse flora in one of the most unique ecosystems in the West Kootenays.

Record Ridge is a vital and rare serpentine grassland habitat that supports an incredible diversity of native plants and species specially adapted to these unusual soils. It is also an ecosystem facing many imminent threats. The more eyes we have on the ground making observations and capturing images, the better we can understand, appreciate, and help protect this special place.

A few important notes:

  • This is a “pay what you can” event. Spots are limited to keep the experience intimate, so we encourage you to register early to secure your spot.
  • Attendance at the June 11 webinar is required in order to participate in the June 13 field day.
