If so, we’d love for you to join the Board of the Kootenay Native Plant Society!

Who We Are

KNPS’ vision is to foster an appreciation of native plants in the Kootenay Region and to preserve their diversity for future generation. Our mission is to connect the people to the plants of this place. KNPS’ work involves research, education, and restoration of plant habitats, with a focus on plant-pollinator relationships

Role of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors has the ethical and legal responsibility for the operation of KNPS. The Board oversees the financial management and human resource practices of KNPS. Board members are involved in strategic and project planning, financial and human recourse management, fundraising, and community relations. Board members also help with event planning, and planting and weeding days too!

Commitment

Board meetings are held the second Monday each month from 19:00-20:30. Directors are encouraged to join a committee (Human Resources, Governance, Outreach, Finance) which meets every 1-3 months, depending on the need. Board members contribute a minimum of 5-10 hours monthly, more during the event season, for a 1-year term, but are encouraged to remain for at least 3 years.
