Castlegar City Council Presentation
June 1, 2015 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

On Monday, June 1, a delegation will be presenting information about the cultural and ecological significance – and the greatly imperilled state – of blue (aka “black”) camas populations in Millennium Park at a City of Castlegar Council Meeting. Attached please find the agenda package sent to Mayor and Council. At this meeting we are proposing:

Main Objective: Formal acknowledgement of the ecological and cultural significance of camas and its habitats in Millennium Park and on city-owned lands.

Objective includes three actions:
Designated conservation and restoration area in Park.
Permanent interpretive signs in Park.
Management plan for natural areas, with a focus on camas, in Millennium Park and throughout greater Castlegar area.
Council Meeting Information:

Located in Community Forum – #101 – 445 13th Avenue (ground floor of the CBT building beside City Hall), Castlegar, and begin at 7:00 pm.

Please consider attending this meeting and supporting us in this effort. Please spread the word and let’s pack the house!

If you cannot attend, please consider writing a letter of support that we can be delivered in person at the meeting on Monday, or mailed directly to the City.

Thank you for your continued support of this very special plant! Together, we will see it acknowledged, protected, and tended once again.

Valerie, Eva and Brenda, on behalf of the delegation!
